Teaching Experience Summary

Delaware Technical & Community College

 Received the Excellence in Teaching Award from DTCC in May 2006.  Click here for the full listing of accomplishments.

Instructor for Nuclear Physics (NMT 222), Acoustical Physics (DMS 110), Conceptual Physics (PHY 111), Physics for Allied Health (PHY 112), General Chemistry (CHM 110), and Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 110).

Implemented a quality improvement process utilizing student surveys to guide instruction and course changes.

Created new Internet-based Physics laboratory procedures and incorporated Internet-based interactive Data Collection Tools with instant error checking.

Modernized the Physics laboratory with $30,000 of budgeted capital improvements including new equipment, computers, and printer.

Designed and published http://physics.dtcc.edu - a web site with 128 Megabytes of storage space, 335 files, 101 pictures, 900 hyperlinks, and 273 linked files.  The site provides 25,000 hits per year averaging about 4 hits per student per week.

 Improved and updated the course materials including clinical correlation for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Physical Therapy Assistant students in Physics courses.

Integrated Smart Board technology into classroom presentations.

Implemented Black Board system for all courses including online testing for General Chemistry.

Co-Principal Investigator for NIH INBRE Grant No. P20RR16472-04 from July 2004 through April 2009 which includes Delaware Tech as an Outreach Core to foster undergraduate Biomedical research opportunities and promote economic development. The grant provides one million dollars to Delaware Tech over 5 years.

Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL 

Served as an adjunct professor to instruct Introduction to Biomedical Engineering to college students within the Engineering Department. 
Served as Senior Project Advisor. 
Created the course curriculum, syllabus, and materials. (1986-1987).

Harris Corporation, Palm Bay, FL 

Created protocols and training programs for for their Emergency Response Team.

State of Indiana 

Created Basic Life Support (BLS) treatment guidelines for volunteer EMS services, and 
started the Striving for Excellence Award Program (1985) to recognize EMS services utilizing the guidelines.
Started the Indiana State Basic Trauma Life Support Program by planning courses to train instructors and served as the first State Medical Director (1985-1986).
